Afternoon Tea

The Huckleberry is proud to offer Afternoon Tea. Relax as we serve a traditional afternoon tea, complete with a lovely table dressed with linens and tea time accoutrements. A bountiful tiered tower of delicious pastries and savory tea sandwiches baked fresh for you on the day of your tea is presented with, of course, a pot of our premium tea.

Cost is $18.95 per person, ($10.95 children under 9) Reservations are required 24 hours in advance because we will be baking fresh for you the morning of your tea. We welcome parties of all sizes!

Basic Children’s Tea Party
$10.95 per child

     * Tiered tower of child friendly pastries,
tea sandwiches, and savory  delicacies.
     * Elegant teatime settings with white linen
and traditional tea accoutrements.
     * Traditional Devonshire cream and lemon curd
     * Choice of our exclusive, specialty blended children’s teas.

Premium Children’s Tea Party
Teddy Bear Tea or Doll Tea
$18.95 per child
   The same goodies as the Basic Tea Party as well as a choice
   of tiny porcelain doll or teddy bear favors, and a Teapot Cake.

To add tea and an adult pastry platter, add $7.95 per adult.    Duration: 1 1/2 hours

History of Afternoon Tea

The elegant ritual of Afternoon Tea is credited to Anna, the Seventh Duchess of Bedford. As was customary during the later 1700's and early 1800's, people would eat a huge breakfast, tiny lunch, and then a substantial dinner around 8:00 at night. The Duchess, describing a "sinking feeling" during the afternoon, began to request tea and cakes to tide her over. Soon, she invited her friends to share the ritual with her, and it quickly became a fashionable, treasured custom.
